Development
Development of Hopjacks was announced in 2007 after Mexican eatery Margarita's vacated its location at 10 South Palafox.[1] The restaurant and its adjacent space, formerly occupied by The Pillars, were merged and renovated by Bounds Architectural Studio and contractors George Keen and David Rhodes.
Co-owner Corey Fogarty chronicled the progress on a blog, initially intending to open before Christmas 2007, then Mardi Gras 2008. After various delays, the restaurants served its first customers on February 13, 2008.[2]
Mobile, AL - Location
Hopjacks opened their second store on 251 Dauphin Street in downtown Mobile, AL. on June 10th, 2009. Hopjacks second location boasts 50 beers on tap and of course 100+ bottled features. The new location features mezzanine seating and a mezzanine stage for live music.
Beer selection
Hopjacks boasts 110 different beers on tap with more than 120+ bottled selections, ranging in price from around $2 to as high as $25 for specialty beers. Hopjacks is notorious for it's ever evolving beer menu due in part to their purchasing power and professional relationships with Brewery's across the country. It is not uncommon for them to have "one-off" products drop-shipped and made available to their clientele. Due to these reasons they typically update their beer menu at least once a week to make sure everything is current.
