Kurt Larson, co-founder of the Florida Institute of Research and Education, Inc., is an experienced consultant, executive coach and author. The primary focus of his work over the last twenty years has been helping public safety organizations create a culture of excellence.
Kurt has enjoyed positions in both career and volunteer fire departments, advancing to fire chief in both avenues of service. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program. He has also worked with a wide range of organizations including hospitals, paid and volunteer fire departments, ambulance companies, rescue squads and others.
A highly regarded speaker and lecturer, Kurt has presented training and educational programs to organizations around the world. With degrees in engineering and fire science, he teaches college courses to emergency responders. His latest success is the completion of a book titled Frontline Heroes: A Story of Saving Lives, which he hopes firefighters, EMTs and paramedics will use to incorporate excellence into their organizations.
Kurt has been named to Who's Who and is the recipient of the Florida Instructor of the Year award. He has served on the Professional Development Committee for the International Association of Fire Chiefs and sits on the Board for the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs. Kurt has received the title and designation of Chief Fire Officer from the Center for Public Safety Excellence, an honor bestowed upon less than 750 fire chiefs worldwide.
