The Port of Pensacola is a large deepwater port located in Pensacola Bay. It was established in 1802 to serve the Gulf Coast area and mainly trade between Pensacola to New Orleans, Tampa, Charleston and Savannah. Today is serves as a small port serving occasional cargo trade. The city of Pensacola has tried several times to make the port more important (mainly by trying to increase the amount of cargo shipped out and bring cruise ships to Pensacola), but all tries have not been successful.
