Joseph Spence Roberts (1858-1950) was Escambia County Tax Collector from 1905 to 1915, and again from 1917 until 1929. He moved to Pensacola at age 17 to work for the W. L. Wittich Shipping Company and later co-owned the Frater-Roberts Mercantile Company.
