The Florida Democrat was an early newspaper founded in 1845 as a four-page weekly. J. A. Baughey was the editor and publisher.
By 1846 it was published three times a week. Yearly subscriptions cost $6.
The paper merged with the Tri-Weekly Observer in 1857.
